Learning Outcomes
Students will know the stages of human development, starting from the gametes until the delivery of the baby. Emphasis is placed on prenatal diagnostic methods, on imaging of fetal development, on assessing of fetal development based on milestones, on the causes of congenital anomalies, on placental development and function. The development and formation of organs and systems, in addition to their most common congenital anomalies, are studied.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Meiosis, gametogenesis ovarian cycle, fertilization, cleavage, blastocyst formation, 1st week of development, implantation, gastrulation, early differentiation of tissues and organs, fetal period, placenta and fetal membranes, teratology, developmental signaling pathways, procedures for assessing fetal status, prenatal diagnosis, body cavities, pharyngeal apparatus, respiratory system, digestive system, urogenital system, cardiovascular system, axial skeleton, muscular system, extremities, nervous system, sensory organs, integumentary system, congenital abnormalities, clinical correlates- problems
