Learning Outcomes
Learning the fundamentals of systems biology and its role in the life sciences and precision medicine. Learning the basics of omics (genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) and their role in life sciences and precision medicine. Learning the modern methodologies and technologies of omics (genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics). Search and organize bibliography related to the subject of the course. Use of tools and platforms to collect data and information about the subject matter of the course.

Fundamentals of systems biology. Genetics and genomics. Epigenetics and epigenomics. Transcription and transcriptomics. Proteome and proteomics. Metabolοme and metabolomics. Modern omics methodologies and technologies.

Submission of assignments to an e-learning repository, plagiarism control, commenting and grading. Multiple choice quizzes in e-learning.

Student Assessment
Description
The evaluation of students is carried out in 4 different ways with different weight and contribution to the final grade of each student in the course. 1) With a written exam at the end of the semester via the e-learning platform, 2) with a written individual assignment on the subject of the course which is deposited in a repository in the e-learning, 3) oral presentation of the work at the end of the semester by each student, and 4) midterm examination after the completion of the course lectures with a multiple-choice quiz covering the entire course material. During the written exam, the overall score is reduced to a percentage, taking into account that all questions are of equal value. In the written individual assignment, the overall mark is converted to a percentage and the work is assessed on the examinee's ability to: - present basic introductory facts (20%) - use appropriate language and terminology (20%) - present appropriate research sources (20%) - draw conclusions from the literature review (20%) - follow an appropriate structure in the text (20%) During the oral presentation of the paper, the overall score is reduced to a percentage and the paper is evaluated in terms of the examinee's ability to: - answers accurately and clearly to the questions during the presentation of the work. - participates with questions in the presentations of the works of his fellow students. - present key introductory elements - use appropriate language and terminology - present appropriate research sources - draw conclusions from the literature review - follow an appropriate structure in the text During the mid-term examination after the completion of the course lectures with a multiple-choice quiz covering the entire course material, students have 3 attempts and the total score is calculated by the M.O. in every effort and is reduced to a percentage.
