Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of the course is for the student to acquire the necessary resources to be able to contribute, as a future specialized professional, from the point of view of his specialty: a) to the correct handling of the problems of the conversion of a historical building into a museum, to the socialization of works of art and monuments so that they become social goods.
The following subjects will be developed in the course:
Analysis of concepts-terminology
A brief history of museology
Museum design
In a new building
In a historic building
Principles of organization
The monumentality of the building and the monumentality of the exhibit
Interventions of a technical nature (static adequacy, facilities)
Interventions in the layout of spaces-Operational diagrams
Types of museums (art galleries, archaeological museums, contemporary art museums, etc.) periodic exhibitions
The museum and the visitor
Department of Management and Scientific Research
Fixed installations sector (permanent exhibitions)
Periodicals sector
The museum outside the museum. The historical site museum.
The socialization of works of art and monuments so that they become social goods.
One of the courses will take place inside the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki together with the Director of the Museum.
