Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students: Will be able to understand the principles and rules of line drawing. Will be able to understand and design floor plans, elevations, sections of buildings. Will have basic knowledge of axonometric drawing. They will be able to draw freehand in situ, the hand-made sketch of the topographic survey, by depicting the real physical space on the paper surface. They will be able to create a topographic drawing to scale and to specific specifications, containing the basic background elements. They will be able to use polar and Cartesian coordinates. They will be able to calculate and draw the contour lines, the longitudinal section, and the cross-section of the terrain. They will be able to set up a drawing project. They will be able to design with the help of a computer. They will know theoretical elements and handling of Computer Aided Design (CAD) Systems. They will know theoretical elements and handling of Computer Peripheral Devices for input and output of digital drawings. Theory of Coordinate Systems and transformations used in automated drawing. Handling of raster image processing software and computer input and output devices (scanner, printer, automatic plotter, etc.)

Course Content (Syllabus)
Drawing is the common language among engineers of all disciplines. Therefore, Rural Surveying Engineers should be able to understand and produce plans. The course aims at understanding space and the ability to reproduce it on paper (line drawing) and then at understanding and using computers for design (computer drawing). The course includes three distinct modules: Architectural Drawing, Topographic Drawing, Computer Aided Design. The architectural drawing includes the basic principles and rules of line drawing, the introduction to the rules of figurative geometry and the way of depicting three-dimensional space on paper, the design of floor plans - elevations - sections of buildings and the basic principles of axonometric drawing. The topographical drawing includes The handmade sketch in situ. Drawing to scale the basic background elements of the topographical drawings according to specific specifications. Polar and Cartesian coordinates. Calculation and drawing of contour lines, longitudinal section, and cross-section of the terrain. Setting up the drawing project. Computer-aided design.
