Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, students will have acquired: Knowledge • They will have acquired knowledge about Greek Traditional Dance and the performance of Greek Traditional Dances: Detailed presentation of the dance events of traditional life. • They will have acquired knowledge about Greek Traditional Dance for people with special needs. • They will have acquired knowledge about searching for valid and reliable information on the internet, about Greek Traditional Dances. • They will have deepened the principles of teaching and learning of Greek Traditional Dances. •They will have acquired knowledge about the customs and traditions, traditional costumes, musical instruments, folk songs and will have learned dances from regions of Greece, such as Macedonia, Epirus, Serres, Eastern Aegean Islands, Cyclades, Ionian Islands, Kythira, Euboea, from areas where Greeks lived, wrote history and excelled and were later expelled as refugees, such as Pontus, as well as from cultural groups such as the Vlachs, as well as dances that are danced during Carnival. •They will have understood Greek traditional rhythms. Skills • They will have acquired the skills to perform dances from regions of Greece, such as Macedonia, Epirus, Serres, Eastern Aegean Islands, Cyclades, Ionian Islands, Kythira, Evia, from areas where Greeks lived, wrote history and excelled and were later expelled as refugees, such as Pontus, as well as from cultural groups such as the Vlachs, but also dances that are danced during Carnival. •Development and design of teaching plans for Greek Traditional Dances for people with special needs. •Development and design of plans for teaching unknown-untaught dances. Competencies • Students will be able to apply in practice the basic principles of teaching and learning for teaching dances from regions of Greece, such as Macedonia, Epirus, Serres, Eastern Aegean Islands, Cyclades, Ionian Islands, Kythira, Evia, from areas where Greeks lived, wrote history and excelled and were later expelled as refugees, such as Pontus, as well as from cultural groups such as the Vlachs, as well as dances that are danced during Carnival. •will be able to teach Greek Traditional Dances from regions of Greece, such as Macedonia, Epirus, Serres, Eastern Aegean Islands, Cyclades, Ionian Islands, Kythira, Evia, from areas where Greeks lived, wrote history and excelled and were later expelled as refugees, such as Pontus, as well as from cultural groups such as the Vlachs, as well as dances that are danced during Carnival. •will be able to design and implement teaching plans for Greek Traditional Dances for people with special needs. •will be able to search for and gather, as well as select and present valid and reliable information, regarding Greek Traditional Dances. •will have the ability to proceed with the analysis of Greek traditional rhythms. •will be able to perform improvisations in practice. •will be able to recognize and correct errors during the execution of dances. •will be able to develop plans for teaching unknown-untaught dances. •will be able to work autonomously as dance teachers.

Analytical Course Content • Greek traditional dance and performance of Greek Traditional Dances: Detailed presentation of the dance events of traditional life. Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Macedonia and Samos. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • Greek Traditional Dance for people with special needs. Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Macedonia, Samos and Ikaria. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • Analysis of the principles of teaching Greek Traditional Dances. Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Macedonia and Chios. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Epirus, Pontus and Lemnos. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Workshop: Creation-Design-Implementation of a Teaching Plan for Greek Traditional Dance for people with special needs. • Presentation of how to search for valid and reliable information about Greek Traditional Dances. Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Epirus, Pontus, Mytilene and Amorgos. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Epirus, Pontus, Paros, Tzia, as well as Vlach dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Presentation of improvisations in Greek Traditional Dance and the role of the lead dancer. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Pontus, Kythera, as well as Vlach dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Workshop: Teaching Greek Traditional Dances, according to the principles of teaching and learning to 2nd Year students. Focus on identifying and correcting errors in the performance of the dances. Feedback and optimization of teaching. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Pontus, Corfu, as well as Vlach dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Presentation of the dynamics of improvisations in the performance of Greek Traditional Dance. Workshop: practice in the creation and performance of improvisations. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Pontus, Serres and Lefkada. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Workshop: Teaching Greek Traditional Dances, according to the principles of teaching and learning to 2nd Year students. Feedback and optimization of teaching. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Pontus, Serres, Evia, as well as Carnival dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Serres and Carnival dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Presentation of customs, traditional costumes, musical instruments and folk songs from the regions of the dances taught during the semester. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Serres, Pontus, as well as Carnival dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Presentation of Greek Traditional Rhythms and methods of analysis. Description
Student Assessment The assessment is based on the regular and active participation of students in the course (10%), on the evaluation of the creation-design and implementation of a Greek Traditional Dance Teaching Plan for people with special needs (4th week) (5%), on the evaluation of the ability to create and perform improvisations (8th week) (5%), on the evaluation of the teaching of Greek Traditional Dances, according to the principles of teaching and learning to 2nd Year students (9th and 12th weeks) (5%), on the evaluation of the development, design and implementation of plans for the teaching of unknown-untaught dances (13th week) (5%), on the evaluation of the writing and presentation of a paper entitled "Dances, customs and traditions of my place" (13th week) (20%), and in oral, written and practical exams at the end of the semester (50%). Students will be assessed using the following methods, while their final grade will be calculated taking into account the weight of each form of assessment. The grading criteria for the assignment entitled "Dances, customs and traditions of my place" are listed in the Department's Study Guide, communicated to students in the first lesson and listed at the end of the syllabus. Learning Activities and Assignments • They will demonstrate their understanding and knowledge through active participation in class and practical field activities. • Creation, design and implementation of a Greek Traditional Dance teaching plan for people with special needs, according to the principles of teaching and learning. • Assignment entitled “Dances, customs and traditions of my place”. • Development, design and implementation of plans for teaching unknown-untaught dances.
