Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of the course, students will be able to: Manage, analyze and interpret drilling data using descriptive statistics analysis methods. Combine and interpret the tectonic and geological data of deposits in a three-dimensional environment. Build dynamic 3D geological models by applying innovative modeling software packages. Apply Geostatistics using variograms and estimators (kriging) to analyze the spatial behavior of variables (e.g. contents) and calculate the reserves of the mineral deposit.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Retrieve, analyse and synthesise data and information, with the use of necessary technologies
  • Work autonomously
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Advance free, creative and causative thinking
Course Content (Syllabus)
Processing and analysis of drillcore data (geochemical, geophysical, lithological and tectonic data). Application of Descriptive Statistics to drillcore data. 3D-modeling of deposits using Maptek Vulcan and GoCad software. Application of Geostatistics (Variography-Estimators). Block Modeling. Resource calculation. Classification of mineral resources and reserves.
