Learning Outcomes
•Students will be able to deeply understand the geomorphological processes that shape the Earth's relief. •They will be able to analyze the impacts of allogenic factors, such as climate and human activities, on the morphology and dynamics of geomorphological systems. •They will be trained in the application of quantitative methods and tools for the analysis and management of river systems, such as assessing the impacts of degradation and designing restoration measures. •They will be able to understand the role of glaciers and periglacial phenomena in shaping the earths landscape. • They will be able to interpret the morphology and genetic formation of karst phenomena, as well as their significance in paleoclimatic studies. • They will be able to evaluate the impacts of climate change on geomorphological systems and propose adaptation strategies. • They will combine theoretical knowledge with practical applications, developing field and laboratory skills, while also enhancing critical thinking and data analysis capabilities to solve complex geomorphological problems.

Course Content (Syllabus)
•Fluvial Systems. Morphological types of riverbeds and drainage basins. Morphometric parameters of river systems. Methodological approach and tools for river management to determine the impacts of degradation, restoration, flood behavior, and protection, to optimize morphological continuity, land use, and ecological requirements, while considering the impacts of climate change. •Glacial Systems. Types of glaciers, glacial and periglacial landforms. Glacial erosion and glacial deposits. Glacial hydrology. Mass balance. The glacial imprint on the surface relief. Climatically induced expansion and retreat of glaciers during the Quaternary. •Karstic Systems. Surface and subsurface karst. Karst chemical dissolution and controlling factors. Cave genesis. Karst deposits – speleothems. Karst as an indicator of geomorphological evolution. Applications for environmental monitoring of caves. Karst as a climatic and paleoclimatic indicator.
