Learning Outcomes
·The students will be able to understand the legal framework governing the management of natural resources in Europe and Greece and will be able to analyze the different approaches adopted by European and national policies for the protection of terrestrial, coastal and marine areas.
·They will be able to propose improvements and alternative solutions to strengthen environmental protection.
·They will develop critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze complex legal and environmental issues and will be able to effectively communicate their scientific knowledge to a broad audience.

Course Content (Syllabus)
·The European strategy, national legislations harmonized with the European strategy, and international agreements as key legal tools for the management of terrestrial, transitional, and marine geomorphological systems in Greece.
·The Water Framework Directive (Directive 2000/60/EC)
·The Floods Directive for the assessment and management of flood risks (Directive 2007/60/EC)
·The Marine Strategy Framework Directive (Directive 2008/56/EC)
