Learning Outcomes
The students will visit active companies in the mining sector in order to deepen their knowledge on the exploration and exploitation of mineral wealth. They will learn about the importance of environmental restoration and see the effects of successful and unsuccessful environmental restoration. They will be trained in the identification and representative sampling of minerals, rocks, ores and sediments. They will become familiar with the duties and responsibilities of a geologist in the mining sector.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Mapping of mines and quarries, field sampling methods, collection of representative samples of minerals, rocks, ores and sediments, visits to active and inactive quarries and mining sites. On-site information and presentation of active quarries and mines about the methods of exploration and exploitation of the useful component and the imposed environmental remediation. Cases of successful and unsuccessful environmental remediation. Geologist's responsibilities and commitments in the workplace.
