Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will: have acquired knowledge of the main cultural characteristics of the periods and thematic areas under study, be able to identify, interpret, and situate within the broader historical and cultural context of Italy the specific cultural movements examined, be familiar with the work and distinctive cultural identity of the figures studied, be able to express themselves in Italian at a C2 level, using the appropriate specialized terminology related to the cultural phenomena covered and the corresponding fields of study.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course “Special Topic in Italian Language and Culture I” – “Corso speciale di Lingua e Cultura Italiana I” aims to develop students’ acquired knowledge and familiarity with topics that present specific cultural phenomena in Italy through interdisciplinary approaches, as well as the parallel use of the Italian language for the presentation, evaluation, and interpretation of these phenomena. Specifically, four thematic units will be presented: Italian Neorealism in literature and cinema, the period marking the birth of Italian literature (literary texts, political and ideological dimensions), the historical and philosophical context of Renaissance art in Italy (emblematic artist Leonardo da Vinci), Italian theater of the 20th century (Edoardo De Filippo).
