Learning Outcomes
By the end of the semester, the student will have acquired a comprehensive understanding of humorous literature through the historical evolution of the genre and the study of specific Italian literary texts. They will become familiar with the main literary practices, techniques, and forms that characterize humorous literary production across different time periods and will be able to identify the textual elements (style, language, structure) and extratextual factors (historical, social, and cultural context) that define a literary work as humorous. At the same time, they will understand the reader's role in the reception and interpretation of humor, as well as how humor serves as a tool for social critique and narrative subversion in Italian literature. Finally, they will be able to interpret and discuss the function of humor in literary works, referring to concepts such as irony, parody, exaggeration, and contrast, while developing analytical and comparative skills.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The history of humor in literature. Forms of literary humor (letter, dialogue, short story, novel) as a subversion of the narrative perspective. The role of the reader in the reception of literary humor.

Description
Communication with students takes place via email and Skype.
When possible, computers are used for bibliographic research and related activities.
Classes are conducted in person. For protective measures related to Covid-19, they may be held via Zoom.

Description
1. Written Exam (60%)
• Section 1 (20%): Short-answer questions on theoretical concepts.
• Section 2 (40%): Analysis of a provided text, identifying humorous elements and historical-social context.
2. Oral Exam (40%)
• Presentation (20%): Critical analysis of a selected text.
• Questions (20%): Theoretical and applied questions.
