Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to understand: 1. The fundamental principles governing molecular biology, including tissue cell biology, signaling mechanisms, as well as the regulation of the cell cycle and metabolism, 2. The mechanisms regulating gene expression profiles, including transcriptional regulation, epigenetics, and post-transcriptional modifications, 3. The principles of developmental biology, including stem cell biology and tissue formation during embryogenesis, and how disruptions in developmental pathways relate to degeneration and regeneration mechanisms, 4. Fundamental techniques in molecular and cellular biology such as electrophoresis, blotting, sequencing, cloning, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), 5. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required for applying fundamental knowledge in biomedical research.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The Advanced Molecular and Cell Biology course covers key topics in molecular and cellular biology. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students will delve into fundamental and advanced concepts related to the regulation of gene expression and cellular signaling pathways within the context of developmental biology, tissue homeostasis, and degeneration. The course is designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge and essential practical skills necessary to tackle complex biological challenges in biomedical research. It is conducted through in-person lectures and seminars, as well as participation in workshops.
