Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: - Assimilate fundamental concepts of economic theory, inputs and outputs of economic operations, and their application to Forestry and forest production. - Gain the ability to cost forest production, as well as production and businesses within the forest products value chain. - Develop the capability to efficiently utilize available resources within forest enterprises and operations, while also seeking additional external means. - Acquire the ability to manage the financial aspects of forest enterprises and operations more effectively and with greater ease, enabling them to plan and schedule their economic operations within the framework of sustainability, thus ensuring their creditworthiness in the market. - Gain the capacity to stay informed about international developments, trends, and perspectives regarding policies on sustainability, environmental protection, and entrepreneurship.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course covers essential aspects of Forest Economics and General Economics. It begins with the Principles of Economic Theory, emphasizing the principle of economy. Basic concepts of forest production economics are introduced, such as production, factors of production, inputs and outputs, and the unique characteristics of forest production. The role of land, capital, and labor in forestry is explored in depth. The course also delves into the concept of the enterprise, focusing on forest exploitation as an economic unit and activity. Key topics include the organization and management of forest enterprises, with a focus on their operation as systems involving costs, revenues, payments, and profits. Forest production costing is thoroughly examined, including types of expenses, depreciation, capital interest, and various costing methods (by Position and Entity). Attention is also given to the operational costing of forest enterprises and the production costing of forest industry products. The course introduces break-even analysis and the preparation and analysis of financial statements for forest enterprises. Practical applications of costing are emphasized. Finally, supply and demand for forest products are discussed, with a focus on the law of supply and demand.

Description
The achievement of the learning objectives will be assessed based on the written exam of the course and the delivery of a practical exercise in the university forests. In order to secure a passing grade (at least 5) it is required to achieve a passing grade in the final exam which includes: -Short answer questions from the entire course material -Solving exercises related to the subject of the course
