Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Gain a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts regarding the significance of rangelands in the development of Greek livestock farming. 2. Receive insights into the distinct characteristics of Greek livestock farming. 3. Acquire knowledge about the principles and tools utilized in the development of livestock farming. 4. Acquire skills for planning the integrated use and exploitation of rangelands. 5. Stay informed about the current grazing regime in Greek forests and identify the forests that should be protected from grazing. 6. Understand the importance of pastures and agricultural residues as alternative sources of feed for grazing animals.

Rangelands and their importance in the development of livestock farming, Peculiarities of Greek animal husbandry, Ownership status of rangelands and status of their use, Communal grazing, Rangeland area and distribution, Policy of rangelands development, Stakeholders and development programs, Livestock farming systems, Livestock production systems, Number and structure of livestock capital, Livestock changes over time, Kind of grazing animals. Description
We will be using qualitative teaching methods, such as lectures, projection of images and videos, providing the latest and enriched bibliography, and engaging in relevant discussions with the students. Additionally, we will be presenting grazing management plans for livestock farming development and conducting exercises to help students understand the various concepts.
