Upon successful completion of the course, students will have acquired:
Knowledge
• they will have acquired knowledge about the concept of traditional dance and its definitions.
• they will have acquired knowledge about special features: an analytical approach to the principles governing traditional dance as a genre.
• they will have acquired knowledge about the structure and style of Greek Traditional Dance.
• they will have acquired knowledge about improvisations in Greek Traditional Dances.
• they will have learned representative Greek Traditional Dances from various regions of Greece, specifically the following: Lytos, Gaida, Nizamikos, Melikes, Baidouska, Kotsari, Pidichtos of Rhodes, Rouga, Pentozali, Zeibekikos of Cyprus, Ikariotikos.
•will have deepened the basic principles of learning Greek Traditional dances.

Analytical Course Content
• Introduction to Greek Traditional Dance: concept and definitions of traditional dance.
• Presentation of improvisations: what they are and where and how they are observed during Greek Traditional Dances. Participation in the performance of improvisations in practice.
• Presentation of the basic principles of learning Greek Traditional Dances.
• Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dance: Lytos. Participation in the performance of the dance: Lytos in practice.
• Presentation-teaching and participation in the performance of Greek Traditional Dances: Gaida and Nizamikos in practice.
• Presentation of special features of the dance: analytical approach to the principles that govern traditional dance as a genre. Analysis of the structure and style of Greek Traditional Dance.
• Presentation-teaching and participation in the performance of Greek Traditional Dances: Melikes and Baidouska in practice.
• Presentation-teaching and participation in the performance of Greek Traditional Dances: Kotsari and Pidichtos Rodou in practice.
• Workshop: Simulation of teaching Greek Traditional Dances, from what has been learned. Feedback and optimization of teaching.

Student Assessment
Description
The assessment is based on students' regular and active participation in the course (10%), midterm exams (9th week) concerning: Simulation of teaching Greek Traditional Dances, from those taught (20%) and oral, written and practical exams at the end of the semester (70%).
