Learning Outcomes
Students will be expected upon the successive completion of the course: • Το know the complete technique of speed and obstacle routes, long, high and short jumps and ball, disc, hammer and javelin throws. • To acquire the basic techniques of athletics through experiential exercise with special exercises and methods of perfecting the movement as they are done in developmental and high performance sports • Τobe able to constructtraining programs for technical and physical abilities in the context of a long cycle for the championship. • To design an individual training program of the Athletics competitions based on the new program design trends as it emerges from the literature • To plan and organize competitive sports activities in a school and clubs championship

Course Content (Syllabus)
Week 1: Introduction to the biomechanics of movements and athletics events. Week 2: The concept of technique in Athletics. Development and method of optimizing technique. Biomechanics of speedways, Week 3: Learning and perfecting the technique of speedways. Exercises ranked based on the degree of difficulty in high-level sports Week 4: Biomechanics of obstacle courses. Learning and perfecting the technique of obstacle courses, specialized exercises in classical sports. Week 5: Practical training in the Methodology of Speedways, special exercises and techniques. Errors-corrections of technique, differences based on age and training Week 6: Biomechanics of Horizontal Jumps, Long and Triple Jumps. Analysis of Technique in the Long Jump. Week 7: Analysis of Technique in the Triple Jump. Technique improvement exercises. Specificities of technique development. Week 8: Biomechanics of Technique in Throws. Specificities of developing the technique of Throws according to the principles of human mechanics. Week 9: Technique improvement exercises in the Shot Put, according to the Degree of Difficulty. Differentiation of the two Techniques of Throws Week 10: Technique improvement exercises in the Discus Throw, according to the Degree of Difficulty. Specific exercises for developing the Discus Throw event Week 11: Biomechanics of Vertical Jumps, High and Short Jumps. Analysis of Technique in the High Jump. Technique improvement exercises in high-level sports Week 12: Biomechanics of the Epi-Conto jump, Technique analysis in the Epi-Conto jump. Technique improvement exercises in high-level sports Physical fitness and technique training in track and field events. Week 13:Formulation of training at the basic age and in the championship, Differentiation based on training age.
