Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of the course, students will have acquired: Knowledge • They will have acquired knowledge about dance as a means of expression and education of individuals, as well as about the benefits of dance and, in particular, Greek Traditional Dance as a form of physical activity. • They will have acquired knowledge about searching for valid and reliable information on the internet, regarding research data concerning dance in general and Greek Traditional Dance in particular. • They will have deepened the principles of teaching and learning of Greek Traditional Dances. •They will have acquired knowledge about the customs and traditions, traditional costumes, musical instruments, folk songs and will have learned the dances from regions of Greece, such as Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly, Thrace and the Dodecanese, from regions where the Greeks lived, wrote history and excelled and were later expelled as refugees, such as Romilia, Eastern Thrace, Erythraea of ​​Asia Minor, Artaki, Bithynia and Polis, as well as from cultural groups such as the Vlachs. •They will have understood the Greek traditional rhythms. Skills • They will have acquired the skills to perform dances from regions of Greece, such as Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly, Thrace and the Dodecanese, from areas where Greeks lived, wrote history and excelled and were later expelled as refugees, such as Rumelia, Eastern Thrace, Erythraea Asia Minor, Artaki, Bithynia and Polis, as well as from cultural groups such as the Vlachs. •Development and design of teaching plans for Greek Traditional Dances. •Development and design of models for organizing dance performances and reviving customs. Competencies • will be able to apply in practice the basic principles of teaching and learning for teaching dances from regions of Greece, such as Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly, Thrace and the Dodecanese, from areas where Greeks lived, wrote history and excelled and were later expelled as refugees, such as Romilia, Eastern Thrace, Erythraea Asia Minor, Artaki, Bithynia and Polis, as well as from cultural groups such as the Vlachs. •they will be able to teach Greek Traditional Dances from regions of Greece, such as Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly, Thrace and the Dodecanese, from areas where Greeks lived, wrote history and excelled and were later expelled as refugees, such as Romilia, Eastern Thrace, Erythraea Asia Minor, Artaki, Bithynia and Polis, as well as from cultural groups such as the Vlachs, who will have been taught. •they will be able to design and implement teaching plans for Greek Traditional Dances. •they will be able to search for and gather, as well as select and present valid and reliable information, regarding research data concerning dance in general and Greek Traditional Dance in particular. •They will have the ability to proceed with the analysis of Greek traditional rhythms. •They will be able to develop models for organizing dance performances and reviving customs.

Analytical Course Content • Dance as a means of expression and education of individuals. Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Macedonia and Rhodes. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • The benefits of dance and, in particular, Greek Traditional Dance. Greek Traditional Dance as a form of physical activity. Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Macedonia and Karpathos. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • Presentation of the principles of teaching Greek Traditional Dances. Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Macedonia and Karpathos. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Macedonia, Romilia and Kalymnos. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Workshop: Creation-Design-Implementation of a Teaching Plan for Greek Traditional Dance: Syrtos. • Presentation of how to search for valid and reliable information, regarding research data concerning dance in general and Greek Traditional Dance in particular. Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Epirus, Romilia and Kalymnos. Feedback and optimization of teaching. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Thessaly, Thrace, Patmos, as well as Vlach dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Workshop: presentation of foreign research work regarding dance in general and Greek Traditional Dance in particular, after research and selection by the students. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Thrace, Serres, Tilos, as well as Vlach dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Workshop: Teaching Greek Traditional Dances, according to the principles of teaching and learning to 2nd Year students. Feedback and optimization of teaching. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Thrace, Serres, Erythraea of Mikra Asia, as well as Vlach dances. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Thrace, Serres and Artaki. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Presentation of customs, traditional costumes, musical instruments and folk songs from the regions of the dances taught during the semester. • Presentation-teaching of Greek Traditional Dances from Serres, Bithynia and Polis. Participation in the performance of the dances in practice. Presentation of Greek Traditional Rhythms and methods of analysis. • Workshop: Teaching Greek Traditional Dances, according to the principles of teaching and learning to 2nd Year students. Feedback and optimization of teaching. • Development, design and implementation of models for organizing dance performances and revival of customs. Overall review of learning outcomes and evaluation.

Description
Students’ Evaluation The evaluation is based on the regular and active participation of the students in the course (10%), on the evaluation of the creation-design and implementation of the Teaching Plan of the Greek Traditional Dance: Syrtos (4th week) (5%), on the evaluation of the ability to search for valid and reliable information, regarding research data concerning dance in general and Greek Traditional Dance in particular, as well as on the evaluation of the selection and presentation of the most important of them (8th week) (5%), on evaluation of teaching Greek Traditional Dances, according to the principles of teaching and learning to 2nd Year students (9th and 12th week) (10%), on evaluation of development, planning and implementation of models for organizing a dance performance and revival of customs (13th week) (10%) and in oral, written and practical exams at the end of the semester (60%). Student evaluation will be carried out through the following methods, while their final grade will be calculated taking into account the weight of each form of evaluation. Learning Activities and Assignments • They will demonstrate students’ understanding and knowledge through active participation in class and practical field activities. • Creation, design and implementation of a Teaching Plan for Greek Traditional Dance: Syrtos, according to the principles of teaching and learning. • Search for valid and reliable information, regarding research data concerning dance in general and Greek Traditional Dance in particular, as well as selecting and presenting the most important of them. • Developing, designing and implementing models for organizing dance performances and reviving customs.
