Course Objectives and Description
The course focuses on acquiring elements of technical execution of basic strokes, knowledge for the proper conduct of a Badminton match and the cultivation of competitive ability in Badminton. Students practice in competitive conditions (singles and doubles in a regular game), are introduced and deepened in its techniques and learn to recognize and correct technical errors. In addition, they are introduced to basic principles of refereeing and English terminology of the sport, acquiring a rough picture of Badminton as a sports and educational tool.
Learning Objectives
The course aims to:
• Introduce students to the sport of Badminton.
• Technical training of students in the Clear, Smash, Drop, Lift strokes on the forehand and backhand, in the high and low serve.
• Understand and apply basic regulations for conducting the sport.
• Cultivating the ability to recognize and correct technical errors, both in personal execution and when supervising others.
• Preparing students to teach basic tennis elements to novice athletes or students.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will acquire:
Knowledge:
• Application of competition and refereeing rules (e.g. how a point is won or lost, service errors, etc.).
• Theoretical understanding of technique and errors in various strokes.
• Basic English badminton terminology.
Skills:
• Execution of Clear, Smash, Drop, Lift on forehand and backhand, high and low serve, with technical proficiency.
• Recognition and correction of common errors in technique.
• Participation in competitions with simplified rules, with adherence to regulations, with or without a referee.
Skills:
• Teaching basic elements of Badminton to beginners.
• Taking on basic refereeing roles in student/training situations.
• Collaboration in sports environments through group forms of exercise.
