Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course students will gain the following knowledge and skills:
1.Structural material's characteristics - Ability to choose the appropriate building materials for specific purpose.
2.Basic methods on dimensioning of structural elements
3.Design and structural considerations upon forest infrastructure works and projects (forest roads etc) and Timber houses,
4.Understanding the complex Environmental Impact Assessment based on specific environmental criteria of forestry projects and structures in nature.
5.Introduction to basic bioclimatic design methods for timber buildings within the forest environment and relevant thermophysical properties of building materials.
Course Content (Syllabus)
General principles and methods of construction and dimensioning of structural elements, reinforced concrete elements, design calculus and construction of drains, retaining walls. types of Timber bridges - design, lightweight timber houses-lodges, timber building elements, structural calculations and stability control. Environmental compatibility criteria of forest road design. Thermophysical properties of building materials. Bioclimatic-sustainable design of timber buildings in forest Environment
