Learning Outcomes
Students learn (1) how to cooperate and participate regularly and actively, (2) how to present a literary subject orally and (3) how to write a paper. This way they become acquainted with (1) multiple methods of text analysis and interpretation, (2) the scientific handling of bibliography/ secondary literature and (3) their own production of scientific texts. The language of the course is german, which additionally helps the students improve their language competence.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This seminar explores German-language literary works in which journeys to Greece play a central role. Key questions include the portrayal of the protagonist, the narrative of the journey, its significance for the main character, and the literary image of Greece. After an introduction to key theories of travel literature, we will trace a historical overview of literary journeys to Greece. The focus will be on contemporary literature, which will be presented by students in group presentations.
