Learning Outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce concepts and methods of probability and statistics that are useful in chemical engineering problems. Particular emphasis is placed on the practical approach to real-world problems. The course also aims to teach students how to use statistical analysis software to solve problems, to understand the application of statistics in engineering sciences, and to compare theoretical problem-solving with computational approaches

1. Introduction and Descriptive Statistics
2. An Introduction to Probability
3. One-Dimension Random Variables and probability distribution Functions
4. Some important Probability Distributions for discrete and continuous variables ( Bernoulli – Binomial, Poisson, Uniform, Normal, Χ2, Student)
5. Parameter Estimation (Point estimation, Confidence Interval estimation)
6. Statistical hypothesis testing (Mean, Variance, Proportion, of one and two distributions)
7. Regression and Correlation
8. Introduction to Statistical Quality Control & Reliability Engineering
9. Introduction to Design of Experiments
10. Using software for Statistical Analysis - Optimization with Solver
