Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to: 1. Understand fundamental computer concepts relevant to scientific computing and physics research. 2. Write basic programs using Wolfram Mathematica to perform calculations, data analysis, and simulation tasks. 3. Apply numerical methods, such as differentiation, integration, and solving differential equations, to physics problems. 4. Analyze and interpret scientific data through plotting and visualization techniques. 5. Implement simple physics simulations using Wolfram Mathematica. 6. Communicate computational results effectively through written reports and visual presentations. 8. Develop problem-solving skills by applying computational techniques to real-world physics scenarios.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Retrieve, analyse and synthesise data and information, with the use of necessary technologies
  • Work autonomously
  • Be critical and self-critical
  • Advance free, creative and causative thinking
Course Content (Syllabus)
This lab course consists of 10 independent computer exercises split in 3 groups: Group Α: Report Assembly (3 Lab exercises) Group Β: Data analysis (3 Lab exercises) Group C: Problem solving (4 Lab exercises) Each Lab exercise (1-10) is independent and students are requested to submit electronically the corresponding report. The 11th (last lesson) is the final examination.
