Learning Outcomes
After completing all the course lectures the students will have the skills to: 1. Understand basic characteristics of the satellite remote sensing. 2. Understand the role of the physical processes involving in the remote sensing of the atmosphere with satellites. 3. Be able to interpret meteorological satellite images and data. 4. Know how to exploit satellite data in weather forecasting and estimating atmospheric variables. 5. Communicate an understanding of satellite remote sensing orally and graphically. Skills Objectives: 1. Awareness of the connections of satellite meteorology with other fileds og meteorology and climatology and to demonstrate satellite meteorology’s importance within these endeavors 2. To introduce students to new skills involved in the use of satellite data 3. Be able to explain ideas and results through written, graphical and oral of communication. 5. Qualified for conducting Research in meteorology, climatology and atmospheric science.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Principles of the satellite remote sensing: definitions and lows for the electromagnetic Energy,interaction of radiation with the earth system, satellite sensors, satellite types. Satellite image processing: fundamental image characteristics, radiometric and geometric correction, satellite image representation and interpretation, contrast enhancement, spatial enhancement. Fundamentals of Meteorological satellite images: image interpretation in different channels, channel combinations. Cloud analysis, cloud system analysis. Estimation of meteorological parameters and atmospheric composition: precipitation, wind, soundings.
