Learning Outcomes
The aim of the course is for students to understand the basic principles of research, development, design and production of advanced drug delivery systems (liposomes, nanoparticles, 3D printing) in combination with different forms of administration (buccal, oral, nasal, pulmonary, ocular, transdermal) Upon completion of the practicals the students will have knowledge regarding the formulation of colloidal dispersions of liposomes, nanoparticles, nanoemulsions etc. In addition, they will different routes of administration (nasal, buccal, transdermal, pulmonary, oral, ocular) using ex vivo models in combination with 3D printing techniques

Course Content (Syllabus)
1. • Introduction to dosage forms for drug administration. • Modern formulation techniques to increase bioavailability. • Innovative drug systems for transdermal, ocular, buccal, nasal, pulmonary and oral administration • Application of polymeric biomaterials for the development of innovative pharmaceutical forms. • Characterization of medicinal substances and excipients. • Compressibility of powders • Adaptation of batch production of products from laboratory to industrial scale. • Preparation of solid pharmaceutical forms using Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) and physicochemical control methods. Development of hybrid drug delivery systems, with simultaneous use of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies. • Nanotechnological drug delivery systems from different routes. • Drug development and discovery
