They will have the experience of the critical approach of the sources and the bibliography and a first experience of musical performance of Ancient Greek Music based on the extant musical fragments.
Course Content (Syllabus)
This Course offers a first and basic knowledge with the special issues of the discipline as well as an encounter and first approach of the sources. Among others it refers to a first encounter with the early music of the Greek teritorry and its relations with the Ethonological backround of the Prehistoric time of the area as it is now unfolded by the latest research results. The Early Musical System and its late interactive contact with the Babylonian musical system in the environs of the Eastern Mediterannean Basin and the Aegean. The Ancient Theatre and Professionalisn in Music. The musical characteristics and terminology of the system. The Music Education. The Musical Notation and its critical approach. The Ancient Greek Instruments and their development in time. The Extant Fragments.
