Learning Outcomes
For the students to get to know the sources of the history of Mount Athos, the libraries and archives in which they are contained, the publications and generally the ways of accessing them. Consolidate the way of studying, analyzing and using them, in order to include them in their working method and utilize them in their studies on Mount Athos.

Course Content (Syllabus)
1) Monuments of art as a source for the history of Mount Athos. 2) The foundational inscriptions of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine years and their contribution to the knowledge of the history of Mount Athos 3) The contribution of excavation and archaeological research in general to the knowledge of the history of Mount Athos 4) Introduction to the sources of the history of the AO. 5) The Byzantine archives of the AO 6) The post-Byzantine archives of the AO 7) The Athonian manuscript libraries. Genesis, evolution, content and fluctuations them over the centuries 8) Sources for the history of Mount Athos: 1821-1870 9) Sources for the period of national competitions. Macedonian Struggle 10) Liberation of Mount Athos (1912).
