Learning Outcomes
"Philosophy of Science" lectures are given to students during the third semester. During the first lecture 20-30 groups are formed and are given certain topics, along with literature. The students of each group cooperate in searching additional information on the topic they are going to present (power-point presentation)and to write the respective essay. Thus: They learn to collaborate Write essays and present lectures to their classmates Write essays in a proper form To deepen their knowledge in the subject assign to them

Course Content (Syllabus)
Philosophy and Science relation. The methodology and nature of scientific knowledge. Methods of acquiring scientific knowledge. Social character of scientific knowledge. Necessity of studying scientific problems. Philosophic problems of specific sciences with emphasis on Geology. Historical evolution of scientific knowledge.
