Course Content (Syllabus)
The course examines the basic theoretical approaches to journalism and its social mission. Emphasis is placed on the notion of truth and objectivity as well as on the journalism crosscheck. An important part of the course is about the evolution of the journalistic profession and the relationship between politics and journalism in modern Greece. Reference is also made to the historical evolution of new media as well as the differentiation and correlation between traditional, electronic, digital and new media. The web and its services are then examined with a focus on Web 2.0 tools and services. An important part of the course deals with the technologies and features of audio and video (static and moving) in new media. Web content publishing and social media are also being considered.
