Learning Outcomes
The students will be able to recognize the drugs targets, they will be familiar with the principles of pharamodynamics and pharmacokinetics, will know the steps for the discovery of drugs, will be familiar with the pharmaceutical chemistry of specific drugs categories, will know the radiomedecins and their use.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Drug Targets: Structure and function of proteins, enzymes, receptors, nucleic acids.
Principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokeintetics.
Drug discovery and design.
Tools for drug design: Combinatorial and parallel chemical synthesis, computing in pharameceutial chemistry, quantitative relationships of structure-activity.
Special subjects in pharmaceutical chemistry: antibacterial, antivirous, anticancer, cholinergic, antiholinergic, analgesic and antiinflammatory drugs.
Use of radionuclides and radiation in medicine and biological sciences, radiolabeled compounds,
Radiomedicins in nuclear medicine-applications in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.
Higher structures of nucleic acids as drug targets.
Polyhydroxyalkanoic acids: Bioapplications as drug carriers.
