Course Content (Syllabus)
EXERCISE MEDICINE – aim and content The course aims to provide all the necessary theoretical and practical information for the understanding of general and specific topics of Sports Medicine. Thus, the functional changes and adaptations from exercise training, as well as the effects of detraining in both athletes and patients of any age will be taught. Additionally, the course will focus on the exercise programs that are appropriate for different population groups and the impact of physical inactivity and sedentary lifestyle on health. 1. Physical inactivity as a health risk factor 2. Exercise and health 3. High intensity exercise and health 4. Exercise in childhood 5. Cardiovascular complications of the use of prohibited substances 6. Exercise-related disorder 7. Exercise in metabolic syndrome 8. Exercise in the elderly 9. Exercise and blood pressure 10. Female Athlete Triad, exercise during pregnancy 11. Sports in extreme environmental conditions: Altitude sickness and Acute decompression syndrome 12. Exercise and bone health 13. Sudden cardiac death during exercise- Assessment of cardiovascular health
