General Prerequisites
Attendance and performance in this course presuppose basic legal knowledge that students acquire during their undergraduate studies in law or, at least, in the context of their undergraduate studies in subjects with a normative dimension (e.g. moral philosophy, political theory, theology, etc.).
Learning Outcomes
The postgraduate student becomes familiar with the fundamental concepts and principles of law in a democratic rule of law and is able to interpret any legal rule in order to arrive at a correct solution every time. Furthermore, the postgraduate student is introduced to the socio-political and cultural environment of the late 19th century until after the Second World War through a review of the main trends in modern and contemporary philosophy of law. In this way, he or she gains a deeper awareness of the contemporary circumstances within which legal judgments are made, as well as their origins.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course deals first of all with the following philosophical issues: Correctness of legal judgments, the language of law, legal reasoning. It further explores: The nature of legal interpretation, the classical criteria of legal interpretation and gaps in the legal order, and finally the contradictions in the legal order.

Description
The course and exams are conducted via the online zoom platform in case face-to-face teaching is not possible. Electronic communication through the e-learning application is used to communicate with students and to provide them with literature and course material.

Description
Active participation in the lesson with questions and comments. Writing a remarkable paper with qualitative characteristics and successfully answering the exam in questions requiring critical judgement.
