Learning Outcomes
They will come into contact with a modern subject, which will be approached in an interdisciplinary way. They will become familiar with the discipline of International Economics and its close interconnection with both Strategy and Geopolitics. They will understand the mechanisms that transform the global economy and change the world, and in extreme cases cause a mismatch between economic and strategic power. They will become familiar with the countervailing economic trends that sometimes stabilise the international security system, consolidating the balance of power within it, and sometimes destabilise it, pushing it towards a new balance. They will be able to interpret the causes of the crises that are rearranging power within the international system, calling into question its governance. They will see that international security is inextricably linked to balanced development and that changing the global distribution of economic power poses risks to international security. They will systematise the perceptions that they inevitably have on a daily basis due to the flood of information on international economic affairs that they receive from the media, so that they will be able to interpret international economic trends and situations in scientific terms and understand exactly how they affect international security. They will understand all the parameters of strategic decision-making that determine international and regional security, in which they themselves will be called upon to participate in the future, whether at national, regional or even global level. They will understand that it is geo-economics that determines the behaviour of states in matters of international security and will gain a competitive advantage when they have to participate in the mechanisms of strategic decision-making. They will be able to put into practice the knowledge and understanding they have acquired and to provide accurate information on geo-economic issues and their link with the strategy of their country or the alliance to which their country belongs.
