After successful completion of this module, students will be able to:
• Understand pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, and many other factors for practitioners to develop a safe and effective drug therapy plan for older adults.
• Define comorbidities, cognitive function, and social status.
• To understand the main differences in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in the elderly, the most frequent drug interactions, the basic principles of rational prescribing to avoid polypharmacy as well as the main categories of drugs that are contraindicated in the elderly.
