Students are expected that, within this course, they will:
• Be able to understand the complex phenomenon of stress
• Know the causes and parameters that make it up
• Become familiar with the clinical diagnosis, measurement and treatment of the phenomenon of Stress.
• Obtain basic knowledge of psychoendocrinology and its relationship to stress
Course Content (Syllabus)
The aim of the course is to enable students to understand the psychological and biological background of stress in relation to psychosomatic development, but also to everyday life. Among other things, the psychological parameters and biological systems associated with the onset and evolution of stress, the stress response, the neuroanatomy of the system, the influence of early experiences on the formation of the stress response as well as the effect of stress on emotion and mood but also on neurocognitive functions are analyzed. At the same time, the biological changes that occur in the human body under stress and the mechanisms that lead to homeostasis disturbance and link chronic or toxic stress to the emergence and evolution of psychosomatic morbidity and health behavior disorders are presented. The mechanisms that link stress with basic parameters of everyday life and lifestyle will also be analyzed, while topics related to overall health promotion, behavior modification models, scientifically evidence-based stress management methods, as well as complementary medical techniques will be covered.
