Course Content (Syllabus)
Teratogens are substances or drugs that when taken by a pregnant woman can cause serious birth defects in the fetus or even intrauterine death. A drug particularly useful in clinical practice for a non-pregnant patient may prove fatal in a pregnant patient. Knowledge of possible and certain teratogens is essential during the obstetric procedure so that, with appropriate guidance, contact of the pregnant woman with these dangerous substances can be avoided.
