Learning Outcomes
Students are expected to:
- learn about the historic evolution of Landscape Architecture - Garden and Park Design, as related to the prevailing theories
and practices in Architecture, Town Planning and the perception of the physical environment through time.
- comprehend the formation and establishment of garden styles and landscape tendencies and their impact on contemporary societies.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Historical retrospection in 4 main phases:
a) Ancient Times (up to 300 A.D.)
b) Medieval Times (300 – 1400 A.D.)
c) Renaissance – 19th century (1400 – 1900 A.D.)
d) The 20th century and contemporary trends.
Presentation of plans and images of representative landscapes, parks and gardens according to time frames, explanation of the site design, comparative study of social and environmental factors.
Development of modern theories in Landscape Architecture, applications on natural and man made environments, principles and properties of historic and cultural landscapes.
