Principles and criteria of chronostratigraphic structure of geological time, chronostratigraphy and geochronology, magnetostratigraphy and paleontological data, basic principles of cyclostratigraphy; climatic cycles, isotopic stratigraphy and MIS, ecostratigraphic applications, effects of taxonomic processes on stratigraphy, platform biostratigraphy, interpretation of biostratigraphic data, familiarity with industrial biostratigraphy software
