General Prerequisites
A crucial prerequisite for understanding the course and for graduate students, is considered the earlier course and certainly appropriate knowledge of anatomy lesson conducted in two semesters of undergraduate studies and its purpose of focusing on teaching and knowledge of the musculoskeletal system particularly.
Learning Outcomes
Students are expected upon the successive completion of the course: Knowledge - To recognize, describe and explain the basic scientific concepts for the construction and function of the Musculoskeletal System. - To combine and utilize the knowledge of functional anatomy. - To recognize the functional role of the joints of the human body, in order to better understand Functional Anatomy. - To deepen the interpretation and evaluation of the movement of the human body and the composition of movements. Skills - To recognize all the bones, muscles and joints on the human skeleton. - To recognize all the basic muscle groups of the human musculoskeletal system and their role in the movement of the body. - To be able to determine the structural and functional differences between ligaments and tendons. - Recognize all joints in the human skeleton and their importance in movement. Abilities - Apply knowledge of functional anatomy in practice. - Decision-making skills. - Work in teams within an interdisciplinary environment. - Generate new research ideas. - Exercise critical and self-criticism. - Promote free, creative and inductive thinking.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Week Content Learning Outcomes 1st week Introduction to the science of Functional Anatomy. Presentation of basic concepts and terminologies. Understanding the theoretical basis of the science of Functional Anatomy. 2nd week General Functional Anatomy of the degrees of the Spine. Understanding the basic movement of the spine 3rd week Specific Functional Anatomy of the Spine and Thorax. Understanding the function of the spine and its relationship to the rib cage. 4th week Functional Anatomy of the elbow joints (pronation-supination). Understanding the function of the elbow and the basic movement of pronation and supination. 5th week Functional Anatomy of the joints of the shoulder girdle. Understanding the function of the sternoclavicular, acromioclavicular, glenohumeral and scapulothoracic joints. 6th weeκ Functional Anatomy of the wrist, wrist and hand joints. Understanding the function of the wrist and basic movements of the hand. 7th week Functional Anatomy of the knee joint. Understanding the function of the knee and common mechanisms of injury. 8th week Functional Anatomy of the pelvic and hip joints. Understanding the function of the pelvic and hip joints. 9th week Physiology of the neuromuscular junction. Understanding the function of the central nervous system and its connection to the musculoskeletal system. 10th week Functional Anatomy of the ankle, tarsus and foot joints (kinesiological analysis of posture and gait). Understanding the function of the ankle joint and the basic movements of the foot. 11th week Presentation of research papers. Understanding the content of the paper and improving critical thinking. 12th week Presentation of research papers. Description
After relevant student update at the teaching onset of the course , during the exam period a written part will be held combined with an oral part requiring brief contribution , during which the examinee’s critical capacity is evaluated. Also , co evaluation of an elaborated written study from the course is performed , combined with the study presentation and the whole active presence and participation in class.
