Learning Outcomes
This course aims at
• enabling students to understand the neurobiological basis of language
• enabling students to understand the role of the brain in language learning (L1, L2, L3) and performing highly specialized language tasks (e.g. simultaneous interpretation)
• enabling students to correlate the findings of basic research on neuro-linguistics with the foreign language practice in the classroom.
• familiarizing students with the methodology of neurolinguistics and its applications in the study of language

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course is an introductory approach to Neurolinguistics. Specifically, I focus on the following sections:
• Brain and language. Structure and language functions.
• Learning L1 as a neurobiological process.
• Brain plasticity and bilingualism / multilingualism. Brain and L2 learning
• Neurolinguistic findings and foreign language teaching

In the first lecture, the students are informed on the course aims, syllabus, and assessment procedures (oral-written exam and number of questions) and asked to express any objections and/or suggestions.
