Learning Outcomes
After taking this course, students will be able to analyze any English poem, by applying the appropriate terminology, such as, metaphor, simle, meter, rhyme, rhythm, figures of speech.

Course Content (Syllabus)
In the spring semester the students take Introduction to Poetry: Stylistic Choices. This class introduces students to the basic tenets of poetry analysis and the terminology that goes with it. Both form and content work hand-in-hand to bring about the poetic effect achieved by the poet, which the students come to comprehend.

Student Assessment
Description
The students take a final exam at the end of the semester.
A continuous assessmnet project was piloted during the 2012-2013 academic year. The students who participated presented the analysis of a poem to the class, amaking sure they included the appropriate terminology.
