Upon completion of this course, students will acquire:

Understanding of tennis equipment: characteristics of the racket and the ball.
Technical analysis of advanced strokes and error correction.
Knowledge of the structure and organization of the Hellenic Tennis Federation (E.F.O.A.), international tennis governance, and the I.T.F. (International Tennis Federation).
Principles of physical conditioning across all age categories.
Basic principles of sports nutrition.
Fundamental knowledge of athlete psychology.
Injury prevention strategies.
Player behavior guidelines during training and competition, both on and off the court, as well as penalty regulations.
Tennis and sports marketing fundamentals.
Skills
Excellent execution of all tennis strokes (basic and advanced).
Demonstration of correct motor patterns to athletes.
Use of appropriate drills and exercises tailored to each age and skill level.
Planning of daily, weekly, or annual training schedules for athletes.
Development and guidance of game strategies: offensive and defensive play.
Organization of tennis tournaments: creation of match draws and completion of match records.
Injury prevention and rehabilitation through strength and flexibility exercises.
Design of tennis-specific fitness programs (endurance, strength, speed, agility).
Fundamental skills in warm-up and cool-down procedures.
Design, documentation, and evaluation of a research idea using tools and modern scientific methodologies.
Presentation of academic work on contemporary scientific approaches related to tennis.

Coaching mindset and the ability to design individualized or team-based training programs.
Management of athletes’ stress, frustration, or anger during training or matches.
Handling of bullying and victimization incidents in sports environments.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Course Aim
The aim of this course is to provide students with comprehensive theoretical and practical training in tennis, enabling them to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies for teaching, coaching, and organizing the sport at various levels. Through the course, students will be prepared to actively contribute to the promotion and development of tennis among the wider population.
Course Objectives
The course aims to:
1. Develop an understanding and application of the fundamental techniques and tactics of the sport.
2. Apply the official rules and regulations of tennis.
3. Design and organize training sessions and annual training programs.
4. Analyze the characteristics of athletic performance and the specific demands of tennis.
5. Use appropriate training equipment and adapt exercises to the needs of participants.
6. Promote a strong sense of fair play, respect for rules, and respect for opponents.
7. Encourage continuous professional development and personal improvement in the sport.
Teaching Methods
The course will be conducted through a combination of active learning strategies, including:
• Lectures and interactive discussions held both in the classroom and on the court.
• Collaborative learning through small groups operating in an interdisciplinary context.
• Practical experience in both school and competitive environments.

Students will have access to academic material, primarily available through the Moodle (e-learning) platform. This material will include: reading files, additional recommended bibliography, as well as publications from the Hellenic and International Tennis Federations.
