Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of this course students will be able to: - think in a critical and comparative way - understand some basic philosophical, scientific and cognitive - theoretical concepts, principles and methods - understand the stages in the evolution of science and technology in Europe - engage critical thinking towards the evolution of science and technology - understand the unifying role of philosophy of science and technology.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Some selected topics about philosophical thought, cognition, science and technology: a) in anticquity (Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Epicurus, Stoics, Archimedes) b) from the 17th to the 19th century (rationalism, empiricism, rapid evolution of science, classical physics and mechanistic worldview) c) in modern years (positivism, rational positivism, modern physics, scientific realism as well as scienticism, and technoctatic worldview, unifying role of philosophy of science and technology).
