Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will: 1) be able to detect natural selection at the molecular level 2) be able to address issues related to quantitative characters and polygenic traits 3) be able to identify post-translational modifications and epigenetic changes 4) capture terms and concepts related to evolutionary developmental 5) formulate correlations and will describe interactions at many levels of life organisation (from gene to ecosystem).

Course Content (Syllabus)
Course contents include: 1) genetic theory of natural selection and methods of detection at the molecular level, 2) genetic architecture of quantitative characters and consideration of polygenic traits, 3) consideration of evolutionary process at the DNA level, gene expression at the mRNA and protein level, post-translational modifications and epigenetic changes, 4) the paradox of sexual dimorphism and sexual selection, 5) the concept of species, speciation and hybridization at the genomic level, 6) comparative genomics and the evolution of genes and genomes, 7) evolutionary developmental biology, 8) microbiomes and metagenomic analysis, 9) study of gene-to-ecosystem interactions (eco-evolutionary dynamics).
