They will be able to search, analyze and synthesize data and information, assess the functional capacity of patients, identify their needs and peculiarities aiming to prescribe and promote safe and effective exercise. Content: 1. Cardiovascular diseases: Coronary artery disease and heart failure 2. Cardiovascular diseases: other structural heart diseases and arrhythmias 3. Cardiac Rehabilitation: past, present and future 4. Cardiac rehabilitation programs: Organization and management 5. Exercise in patients with arterial hypertension 6. Medical examination of patients (practice) 7. Assessment of Functional Capacity (practice) 8. Exercise in patients with coronary artery disease 9. Exercise rehabilitation in patients after Cardiac surgery, angioplasty, heart transplant, mechanical heart 10. Exercise programs for patients with cardiovascular diseases (practice) 11. Recreational fitness programs in cardiovascular diseases 12. Rehabilitation programs for patients with heart failure 13. Effects of exercise training in patients with cardiovascular diseases
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Adapt to new situations
  • Make decisions
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course aims to provide all the necessary theoretical and practical information for the safe and effective implementation of exercise programs in patients with cardiovascular diseases. In the context of the course, the methods of assessing the functional capacity and health status of the patients and the contraindications for exercise are described. The basic principles of exercise training in patient, the specifics of each disease and the design of exercise programs suitable for each cardiovascular disorder will also be covered. Finally, the beneficial effects, adaptations and possible risks and ways of managing the programs to maintain them will be analyzed.
