Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to: - Understand the basic processes and mechanisms associated with the generation, transport, diffusion and physicochemical transformation of air and particulate pollutants in the ambient air as well as indoors. - Know basic elements of environmental meteorology - Have knowledge of basic devices for measuring air & particulate pollutant concentrations with emphasis on low-cost internet of things devices - Estimate, using simple mathematical models, air pollution levels. - Have knowledge of the elements that link urban activities and urban metabolism to air quality levels in a city (urban heat island, street canyons, urban meteorology, emissions from city activities, urban greening, built environment geometry, etc.) - Understand key issues of biological weather (airborne allergens, etc.) and their synergies with conventional air pollutants. - Understand the key mechanisms linking urban development and climate change to air quality levels.
