Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the attending postgraduate students will be able to: -explain the main limitations in the cleaning and disinfection of the root canal system. -analyze the goals of chemo-mechanical preparation. -describe the properties of hand-held and rotary/reciprocating instruments. -describe and apply the most commonly used root canal irrigation techniques.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Chemomechanical preparation is the core procedure during root canal treatment and it involves a wide range of instruments, materials, and techniques. In this course the postgraduate students are taught the goals of chemo-mechanical preparation, and the main properties of the instruments and irrigants used for cleaning and disinfection of the root canal system. Moreover, the techniques for root canal preparation and irrigation are discussed. The attending students are given articles to read and prepare in advance and these are subsequently discussed and analyzed during seminars.
