Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
a) They investigate cutting-edge issues.
b) Understand the effects, at plant and crop level, of abiotic factors and how they shape yield and quality
c) Identify and propose ways to deal with problems that arise at the cultivation level.
d) Propose and utilize physiological "tools" to deal with problems in collaboration with other specialties (eg geneticists).
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course will present cutting-edge topics in the field of floriculture and landscape architecture. After each lecture, there will be a practical session where the theoretical knowledge will be applied in the field. At the end, students will present their work, related to one of the modules they attended. The thematic subjects of the course are: Introduction to floriculture and landscape architecture. Use of supplemental lighting in floriculture. Growth regulators in the cultivation of floricultural species. Use of molecular techniques and molecular markers in floriculture. "Artificial seed" of floricultural plants. Green infrastructure and ecological water management in the urban environment. Methods of introducing greenery into buildings (interior, roofs, facades). Towards a new planting aesthetic: Planting design and installation of plant material for the gardens and parks of the 22nd century. Presentations of students' work - discussion.
