Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Collect all the necessary data from the geological model of the regional area and integrate it into the scale of the project.
2. Organize an appropriate site investigation program depending on the needs and characteristics of the engineering project.
3. Process a variety of geological and geotechnical data.
4. Select the necessary data for the design of an engineering project.
5. Evaluate the data in qualitative and quantitative terms for the design of a dam, a tunnel, cut slopes of road construction.
6. Distinguish and evaluate the hazard of geological failures in an engineering project.
7. Draw longitudinal and cross-sections at the appropriate scale for the purposes of an engineering project.
8. Learn to handle specific geological and geotechnical data analysis software.
9. Acknowledge the requirements of geological studies and present the data in a study format following specific requirements and technical specifications.
Field Trip Learning Outcomes
1. They connect the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in the courses with geological in situ observations.
2. They understand how different qualities of geomaterials affect the various failure mechanisms depending on the engineering work as well as their extent-scale, observing actual cases.
3. They observe the construction of actual engineering projects based on the data of the relevant geological studies.
4. They understand their role and responsibility as geologists designers of engineering works both in determining safety during the construction and operation of a project, and in determining the final cost of the project.

Field Trip
As part of the course, a one-day field trip on the subject of "Engineering Projects Studies" is carried out, preferably in an area of actual engineering works and specifically in areas of construction of cut slopes, tunnels and foundations (e.g. Egnatia Motorway, Mines, Thessaloniki Flyover).
Keywords
Design, failures, tunnels, dams, road works, embankments, cuts, foundations, landslides, site investigation
Description
1. Written Exami with short-answer questions on topics taught at theory, topics that require evaluation of primary or secondary data (e.g. drawings, maps, diagrams, borehole and test results), as well as True/False or multiple choice questions. It makes up 90% of the overall score.
2. Alternatively, exam with paper-study on subjects-technical objects related to the course. It makes up 90% of the overall score.
3. Completion of a questionnaire related to the mandatory fieldwork to verify attendance. It makes up 10% of the overall score.
