Upon the successful completion of the course, students will be able to identify academic speech, differences between academic and social language and structural patterns of a scientific article, as well as how to summarize and present the key points of a text.

Course Content (Syllabus)
In the course Greek Language for Foreign Students, 4th Semester (Level C1.2), students continue to work with a variety of text types, including popularized scientific articles as well as academic and research papers. The course focuses on developing advanced linguistic competence and familiarity with the conventions of academic Greek.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
• identify the main characteristics and stylistic conventions of academic discourse;
• recognize and appropriately use morphological and syntactic features typical of academic Greek, such as scholarly participial forms, scholarly prepositions, and fixed expressions employing scholarly genitive, dative, and vocative forms;
• form and combine nouns using scholarly prepositions, as well as lexical prefixes and suffixes of learned origin;
• accurately apply grammatical cases governed by scholarly prepositions.

Description
There is a textbook with listening exercises from the Internet, as well as the use of photos, videos, websites, multimedia material, and PowerPoint presentations related to the subject of the lesson.
After the end of each lesson, electronic notes are sent to the students via e-mail.

Student Assessment
Description
The final grade is determined 50% by class performance and 50% by the final written examination of the course.
Four language skills' evaluation (listening, reading, speaking, writing) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment 2001. Due to the interactive character of teaching there is the possibility to evaluate students during class.
