Learning Outcomes
By the end of the courses the students are expected to have got an advanced knowledge of the art of the byzantine empire, the development of christianity and the cultural influences that affected it. They have learned how to explore the social and historical context of the material culture of Byzantium.They are able to understand and evaluate the developing forms of arts in all fields of artistic creation.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction to the Art of Early Christian, Byzantine, Middle Byzantine and Late Byzantine period. Architecture, monumental painting (frescoes, mosaics), sculpture, minor arts, illuminated manuscripts
